After a record breaking rain fall on the central coast, many local communities are still cleaning up after the wind and rain tore up roads and topples trees. Morro Bay State Park, one of our busiest campgrounds, has had to close down for a few weeks in order to remove hundreds of trees and repair campsite structures. We are anticipating the park to re-open by March 8th, 2017. Keep an eye on Reserve America and State Park website information for current news.

The choice to close the park came after five notable tree falls and approximately 100 occurrences of huge limbs falling. While restricted property damage has taken place to vehicles, gratefully no members of the public or staff have went through any injuries. Camping reservations at Morro Bay State Park have been adjourned through March 8, 2017. Campers with bookings for that period will be contact by Reserve America concerning refunds. Lower State Park Road is also briefly closed due to road ruination from the storms. Lower State Park Road is also transiently closed from South Bay Blvd on account of road damage from the storms. But despite that the road is now open at the north end from the City of Morro Bay to let entry to the Inn at Morro Bay, the Museum of Natural History, Marina Parking Place, Morro Bay Golf Area and the Bayside Café.
